GreenShift Mixer Brings Sustainability Leaders Together Ahead of October Forum

The GreenShift conversation is underway

On Thursday, 3 September 2026, members of Nairobi's sustainability and business community gathered at WOJO Nairobi for the GreenShift Mixer, an evening of conversation and connection held ahead of the GreenShift Sustainability Forum 2026.

Running from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, the mixer offered a more intimate introduction to the ideas and relationships that will shape the full-day forum in October. A brief fireside chat opened the evening before guests continued the exchange through networking.

A conversation about capital, impact, and collaboration

The fireside chat was moderated by Nixon Kanali, Founder and Editor of TechTrends Media. The panel brought together Stephanie Ojee, Co-founder of Ardena Consulting, and John Wamiri, Executive Director of Family Group Foundation.

The conversation moved across the connected questions of how sustainability ambitions are financed, where capital is directed, and what collaboration is required to turn intent into measurable action. Stephanie Ojee brought attention to access to green finance and the realities of the carbon-credit and wider carbon-markets space, grounding the exchange in the opportunities and challenges organisations encounter as they seek to participate credibly in the green transition. Building on the role of capital, John Wamiri explored how financial institutions can channel revenue towards activities that create social and environmental impact.

The discussion naturally widened to the role and importance of public-private partnerships. Bringing financial institutions, businesses, government, development organisations, and implementation partners into the same conversation is essential to aligning capital, policy, and delivery around shared sustainability priorities. This cross-sector exchange set the context for the broader GreenShift programme, where leaders can approach the transition from their respective vantage points while identifying practical areas for collaboration.

Building the community before the forum

The networking session gave attendees an opportunity to continue the discussion, establish new connections, and identify areas of shared interest. The themes raised during the fireside chat reinforced why many sustainability challenges cannot be solved by one organisation or sector acting alone.

Green finance depends on credible projects and reliable data. Circular-economy progress requires coordination across producers, regulators, service providers, and communities. Public-private partnerships depend on shared priorities and clear routes from policy to implementation. Creating room for those relationships is therefore part of the work, not an addition to it.

The mixer demonstrated that the GreenShift community is already forming around that shared purpose.

Looking ahead to 22 October

The GreenShift Sustainability Forum 2026 will take place on Thursday, 22 October 2026, from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM at Hyatt Place Westlands, Nairobi.

The invite-only programme will explore ESG as a competitive advantage, renewable-energy innovation, the circular economy, green finance and carbon markets, and public-private partnerships. Each track will combine an expert presentation with a panel discussion, creating room for both technical insight and practical debate.
